A car crash occurred very close to Biden as he was leaving a dinner in Wilmington, Delaware, and frightened him. President Biden’s motorcade was involved in an accident on Sunday night when they were leaving the dinner. The SUV belonged to the motorcade.
Biden was responding to a reporter’s inquiry when the incident happened, shocking everyone in the vicinity. According to reports, Biden was at his campaign headquarters in Delaware having dinner with staff when the incident occurred.
After the event, Secret Service officials hurriedly took Biden to his car to make sure he was secure and to prepare for any future situations. Fortunately, it appears to have been an isolated incident.
Following the collision, Wilmington police said that a 46-year-old male had been charged with driving while intoxicated and driving while inattentive. They added that it seemed like an accident when the cars collided.
“The Wilmington Police Department is investigating the motor vehicle collision, which did not result in any injuries. Investigators are also working to determine if impairment was a factor,” a spokeswoman said in a statement.
No one else from the President’s convoy was hurt in the crashes, including First Lady Jill Biden and President Joe Biden.
Following the event, the US Secret Service declared that Biden had not been harmed and that they did not believe he was in danger.
“Today, at approximately 8:09 p.m., a Secret Service vehicle securing the President’s motorcade route was struck by another vehicle in Wilmington, DE. There was no protective interest associated with this event and the President’s motorcade departed without incident,” the statement continued.
