There was news from the government that North Korea was trying yet another cruise missile. The government wants the military to test a lot of different rockets, and this isn’t the first time they’ve done this.
N Korea’s government-run media said that on Sunday, the military tested a cruise missile that was fired from a submarine. The test launch was being watched by Kim Jong Un, who said that it was part of his plan to “continue accelerating the nuclear weaponization of our navy.”
Photo reports from the state media showed Kim Jong Un at the testing site, and they said Kim was very happy with the results of the tests. It is said that the missile went over the East Sea and hit an island.
North Korea has done test launches before. As it turns out, the last launch, which used a Pulhwasal 3-31 missile, happened just Wednesday. Though North Korea is building up their military and taking steps toward their goal of having a nuclear-armed military and navy, we can expect them to keep testing missiles and launching nuclear bombs.
It is said that the US, South Korea, and Japan are all keeping an eye on military action in the area and are sharing real-time information about it. Anyway, there is some worry, and on Wednesday, the U.S. State Department told North Korea to “refrain from further provocative, destabilizing actions and return to diplomacy.”
A spokesperson for the group, Vedant Patel, said, “We are eager to have serious conversations about how to not only manage military risk but also create lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.” They also said that their stated goal was to “completely denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.”
Since this is the case, North Korea continues with their military plans, saying that “nuclear weaponization of the navy is an urgent task of the times.” They said Kim’s choices had made it possible for them to grow their Navy and military in a “diversified way.”
