Does the State Keep Trump Off the Primary Ballot?

Many people are choosing which candidate to support as the next election approaches, and some governments are attempting to restrict the choices available to voters.

In an attempt to prevent Donald Trump from winning the state of Colorado in the next presidential election, Colorado is now attempting to bar him from the ballot. Colorado is the first state to actually stick with this decision; other governments have attempted to adopt a similar strategy, claiming the 14th Amendment, but most have failed.

The Colorado Supreme Court started the decision, and it will be decided by the Supreme Court in two weeks. Even though Democrats make up the majority of the court, many believe that this decision is unjust.

Even Trump’s opponents, including Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, and Chris Christie, clarified that they wouldn’t want to lose to him in the election due to a court decision.

The controversy arises from the sheer volume of efforts and the extent to which people will go in an attempt to unseat Trump. It seems like many will stop at nothing to stop another Trump presidency—from the indictment to the Hitler comparisons to the current attempt to bar him from running for office.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, filed the complaint, demonstrating its willingness to use any legal tactic. Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which was ratified after the Civil War and stipulates that anyone who held office, swore an oath, but participated in insurrection would not be eligible to run for office again, supports the ruling itself.

The majority wrote, “We do not reach these conclusions lightly.” “We recognize the importance and gravity of the questions that are currently in front of us. We are also conscious of our grave responsibility to uphold the law, free from fear or favor, and unaffected by the opinions of the general public regarding the choices that the law requires us to make.”

The question is not whether Trump participated illegally; rather, it is whether the courts have the jurisdiction to render the decision they are attempting to make.

“Unsurprisingly,” a spokesperson for the campaign stated, “the all-Democrat appointed Colorado Supreme Court has ruled against President Trump, supporting a Soros-funded, left-wing group’s scheme to interfere in an election on behalf of Crooked Joe Biden by removing President Trump’s name from the ballot and eliminating the rights of Colorado voters to vote for the candidate of their choice.”

It appears like Trump is winning even without Colorado’s support and that this judgment may not even make it to the appeals court.
