This week, Tucker Carlson, a conservative American journalist, talked to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The interview has caused a lot of debate.
Carlson has been honest about how he feels about the war in Ukraine, which has been going on for three years. Carlson has said that the war between Russia and Ukraine is a “border dispute,” and he wants the US to stop sending help to Ukraine. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, has also been called a “pimp” and a “rat.”
As they talked about the problems, it was clear what the point of the interview was. Truly, Vladimir Putin wants Tucker Carlson to persuade Republicans not to help Ukraine and to instead pay attention to their own problems.
Putin told Carlson, “You have problems at the border, with migration, and with the national debt.” He went on, “You don’t have anything better to do, so why not fight in Ukraine?” Shouldn’t we try to work things out with Russia?”
Putin’s main goal seemed to be to get the United States to stop helping Ukraine and giving them weapons. He said, “If you really want to stop fighting, you need to stop sending weapons.” In a few weeks, it will be over. Okay, that’s it. Then we can come to an agreement.”
Carlson replied, “So, twice you’ve talked about US presidents making decisions and then having their agency heads overturn them.” It sounds like you’re talking about a system that’s not run by the people who are chosen.
A lot of people spoke out in response to the interview. Because all of these stories about Prince Vladimir and Rurik have to show skeptics one thing: this man is crazy with his ideas,” Maria Kucherenko, a charity leader in Kyiv, replied.
Svetlana Chunikhina, Vice President of the Association of Political Psychologists, says, “Tucker goddamned Carlson did a great job as a microphone stand for the crazy maniac who went on and on for two hours about how much he wants to kill Ukrainians.”
A military drone operator in Ukraine said, “They’re two losers trying to help each other and voice their conspiracy theories.” To get what they call the “truth” about the war, many people are standing up for Ukraine.
