We don’t think the war between Russia and Ukraine will end any time soon because it’s getting worse, especially around the New Year. Russia just started another attack on Ukraine, this time hitting their two biggest cities. The attack killed and hurt many people.
Russia fired hypersonic ballistic missiles at Ukraine’s two biggest cities early Tuesday morning. Five people were killed and more than 130 were hurt. These Kinzhal missiles are said to fly 10 times faster than sound. They hit both Kyiv and Kharkiv in Ukraine.
When we looked at the missiles that were used, we saw that one of them was the Kh-47M2 Kinzhal, a very expensive air-launched hypersonic ballistic missile.
President Volodymyr Zalenskyy of Ukraine said right after the attack, “As of now, 92 people have been reported injured.” All of them are getting help. Four people were killed, which is sad. I’m sorry for their families and close friends’ loss.
“I thank the employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, police officers, and doctors,” he says next, adding that almost 100 missiles were fired at them.
Also, Zelenskyy talked about the attack and praised Ukraine’s military for being able to shoot down rockets, which could have saved hundreds of lives. Their better air defense is shown by the fact that they were able to shoot down many of the rockets and drones that were aimed at them.
An attack like this is just one more act of aggression against Ukraine. Things have been getting worse over time, and records show that all the rockets could have killed and hurt many more people if the Ukrainian military hadn’t stepped in.
This attack comes after the biggest one they’ve seen in Ukraine, which happened on Friday and left at least 41 people dead and many more hurt. It was the biggest attack on Ukraine all at once since the war between Russia and Ukraine began.
Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, also said that Russia attacked Ukraine with “dozens of missiles” and almost 170 Shahed drones.
