On Friday night, Russia launched what may have been the largest aerial strike of the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine. Overnight, they launched 122 drones and missiles into Ukraine, resulting in the deaths of thirty citizens, numerous injuries, and the destruction of numerous cities.

A person expressed her feelings regarding the instant a missile struck the earth. An explosion was followed by flames. I knelt in the street and covered my head. “I ran into the subway station after that,” she remarked.

Including those buried behind debris and rubble, the bombardment injured approximately 140 individuals throughout its more than 18-hour duration. The assault completely destroyed buildings in Ukraine, including homes and educational institutions, leaving a trail of debris in its wake.

According to the Air Force, a large number of missiles entering Ukraine in the middle of the night were intercepted. When Russia unleashed 96 missiles on Ukraine in 2022, it set a record for the largest aerial strike, but this most recent one surpassed it.

Some claim that this was expected as there have been rumors that Russia is preparing a stockpile for the winter and planning to launch similar strikes and attacks.

Six separate cities were the targets of the attack, which also damaged significant structures like residences, factories, and health centers. Reports from civilians mentioned rockets, drone assaults, wildfires, and rescue efforts to move people to safety.

Ukraine is requesting extra assistance from its air defense department and other nations in the wake of this strike. There are serious worries that Ukraine won’t be able to obtain the resources it needs from foreign partners in order to defend itself effectively.

In response to these worries for Ukraine’s future, Joe Biden stated, “Congress ought to stand up and intervene. We won’t be able to keep supplying Ukraine with the weaponry and the air defense systems it needs to defend its citizens unless Congress acts decisively in the coming year.

The British prime minister, Rishi Sunak, went so far as to talk about the extent Russia will go to and the significance of supporting Ukraine. He declared, “Putin will stop at nothing to achieve his aim of eradicating freedom and democracy. These widespread attacks on Ukraine’s cities show that.”

There is growing concern that this is not the final strike of this kind, and many are concerned about how this war will escalate and how we will be able to support Ukraine through it.
