The popular Ozempic is NOT linked to suicidal thoughts.

Ozempic, a famous drug, has been talked about all over the internet, especially because some people worry that it can make people think about suicide. A big study in the US, on the other hand, found that taking Novo Nordisk’s Ozempic does not cause suicidal thoughts.

The study looked at 1.8 million Americans and found that people who took Ozempic were less likely to have suicide thoughts than people who took other drugs made by the same company.

Ozempic is a drug for Type 2 Diabetes. It contains Semaglutide, which is what was thought to be linked to suicidal ideas. This chemical is often found in drugs that help people lose weight and in Ozempic, a medicine for people with type 2 diabetes. This ingredient helps keep blood sugar levels in check and makes you feel less hungry, which is why it’s often found in drugs that help you lose weight.

The reason for this research and study in the first place was worries that this drug might be linked to suicidal thoughts. There were 265 reports of suicidal ideas or actions from 2010 to 2032. This was enough to make researchers want to look into this particular sign.

The tests, on the other hand, showed that Semaglutide in Ozempic or any other drug like it did not have any links. Additionally, no suicide attempts were linked to Ozempic. However, 14 suicide attempts were linked to drugs with similar ingredients but not Semaglutide.

The studies can’t say for sure that Ozempic or drugs with Semaglutide don’t cause suicidal ideas. But studies should make people less worried about the drug’s ability to cause suicide thoughts and how common that might be.

People were also worried about Wegovy, a drug used to help people lose weight. It was part of the same test. There is also Semaglutide in Wegovy, which was linked to suicidal ideas. Only 0.11% of people who used the drug for the first time had suicide thoughts in the first six months.

When other risk factors were taken into account, experts say that having suicidal ideas was 73% lower when taking Wegovy. No patients said they tried to kill themselves while taking this medicine either.

No matter the age, gender, or health of the people who took part in the tests, the results were the same.
