South Korea says that on Wednesday, North Korea shot several cruise missiles into the Western coast. Both the US military and the South Korean military are really looking into these launches.
Representatives from South Korea said, “Our military has increased surveillance and vigilance and is working closely with the US while keeping an eye out for more signs and activity from North Korea.”
As far as we know, this is North Korea’s second launch event this year. It started on January 1 with the launch of intermediate-range ballistic missiles powered by solid fuel. In a statement, North Korea said they would continue to test cruise missiles throughout the year. The leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, has been making threats against the United States and its friends.
South Korea, Japan, the US, and other countries that North Korea considers enemies have been under a lot of stress because Kim Jung Un keeps making threats against them. Not long ago, Kim Jong Un also said that they would no longer try to make peace between North Korea and South Korea.
His words meant that South Korea was North Korea’s main enemy and that the two countries would no longer work together to try to bring their people together. That being said, South Korea said on Tuesday that they had looked at pictures that showed North Korea tearing down a bridge that was a sign of peace between the two Koreas. Located in Pyongyang, the country’s capital, the arch was about 100 feet high. Kim Jong Un called the bridge an “eyesore” and asked for it to be taken down just last week.
Concerns about North Korea remain as they continue to test nuclear weapons. Their long-range cruise missiles can carry nuclear warheads and can reach distances of up to 2,000 kilometers. The United States, South Korea, and Japan are among the countries most worried about this. This is because North Korean missiles have been said to be able to hit military sites in Japan and the US.
