China recently said that they had caught a British spy who was thought to be giving secrets back to China. Authorities in charge of state security said they found evidence that a foreign agent was giving information to the M16 intelligence service in the UK.
They did say that they had a “intelligence cooperative relationship” with Huang, the person in question.
They said Huang was in charge of an international consulting firm and that British intelligence services had been in touch with him since 2015.
On its WeChat social media account, the Chinese Spy Agency revealed that it had caught the spy. They said that M16 was using a foreigner named Huang Moumou as a spy to gather information.
The ministry said, “Following a thorough investigation, the state security organs quickly found proof of Huang’s involvement in espionage activities and punished him criminally.” For the most part, this means that they found Huang to be a spy and involved in spy operations after investigating him.
Beijing and London have been accused of many things lately, and this one is pretty serious. Beijing said that M16 told Huhang to go to China under different names and use his identity to gather information about China and report it. The British intelligence service even gave Huang the tools he needed and taught him how to use them correctly.
Huang gave M16 17 different pieces of information before he was caught as a spy. In the statement, nothing else about Huang was given away, like their name, where they work, gender, or age.
In the past few months, China has been raiding and arresting a lot of people who were linked to spying. China has also told its people to be on the lookout for any kind of espionage and help with counter-espionage work.
