An armed woman was able to defend herself after a man tried to enter her vehicle, according to reports.

WTVD reported earlier this week that 49-year-old Steven McLamb was shot around 5 p.m. in the Food Lion parking lot in the Greystone Village Shopping Center. McLamb was apparently fueled by road rage.

“Mr. McLamb was the aggressor,” Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman told the local news station. “He followed the other individual into the parking lot and upon getting out of his car — approaching her car and attempting to get into her car — she, acting in self-defense, shot and killed him.”

The woman who shot McLamb reportedly had no criminal history and legally owned the gun she was carrying.

“I think what’s really important here is for people to understand … that provision in our law is not, you know, an invitation to vigilante justice, but it does very clearly allow when someone has a responsible fear of imminent death or serious bodily injury that you are allowed to protect yourself,” Freeman continued.

The DA said that a video of the incident and witnesses helped to clarify the fatal incident in Raleigh.

“We were fortunate to have access to various video,” Freeman noted. “Also there were witnesses in the area that were interviewed and were able to give a pretty clear picture as to what happened here.”

The news comes as the mainstream media vilifies law-abiding gun owners for stepping up and protecting their families. Similarly, an armed pregnant woman shot a would-be robber during a family outing in Arkansas during Memorial Day weekend.

As they were loading their vehicle in the River Market parking garage, 37-year-old Markevious King assaulted the woman’s husband from behind and purportedly punched her. That’s when the unnamed 25-year-old mother pulled out her gun and shot King in the head and neck, police said.

The Little Rock Police Department then responded to the scene and found the assailant on the ground. King was rushed to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition due to the gunshot wounds.

Police said that the pregnant woman has not had any charges filed against her, as it was also self-defense.
