In response to Elon Musk’s attempt to sue OpenAI for making money off of their AI tools despite a deal between the two companies, OpenAI is reacting.

After saying that OpenAI is using AI to make money instead of for the “benefit of humanity” as they agreed at the start of AI, Elon Musk sued them. OpenAI, on the other hand, says that Elon Musk liked the thought of making OpenAI money.

A bunch of big tech companies signed a deal that they would use and make AI for the “benefit of humanity.” Elon Musk brought this up. In reaction to Elon Musk’s lawsuit, OpenAi wrote back and also leaked several emails from Musk, which made things worse between the two.

In a blog post, OpenAI said, “Our goal is to make sure that AGI helps everyone. This means both creating safe and helpful AGI and helping to spread benefits to many people.”

“We intend to move to dismiss all of Elon’s claims,” they said.

While OpenAI was just starting out, Elon Musk gave them money and made them sign a contract saying they would only use AI for good and not for profit.

Musk wrote in an email on December 26, 2018, “This needs billions per year right away or forget it.” This was in answer to a question about how much money OpenAI would need.

OpenAI says that Elon Musk has tried to buy a big chunk of the company and become CEO and majority shareholder, but OpenAI didn’t want just one person to be in charge. Elon Musk tried several times to get OpenAI to back his ideas, but they refused. He then started his own AI company while still supporting OpenAI’s work.
