Google said that its AI tool Gemini will block and reject election-related content that people may be looking for online.

Some people are worried about AI and how it might change voting, especially since the presidential election is coming up soon. The company said that these restrictions had already been put in place in the US and India and that this was the first step in its new plan to deal with elections.

“Being extra careful with such an important subject, we have started to limit the types of election-related queries that Gemini will answer,” Google said in a blog post about the subject.

There are more and more worries about fake information and other threats that could come from AI in relation to elections.

A Google spokesperson also said, “As we shared in December, we’re limiting the types of election-related queries that Gemini will return results in order to be extra safe and prepare for the many elections happening around the world.”

This news came soon after Google took Gemini off the market because it was making a lot of wrong pictures based on what users told it to do. Gemini made up fake pictures of the founding fathers, famous people from history as the wrong gender, and violent pictures.

For years, there has been a problem with spreading false information, especially online and on social media. Now, with AI, there is a new way for people to make and spread false information.
