Ukrainian forces have destroyed a huge Russian landing ship after state media captured it unloading reinforcements at a captured port as conquering Kyiv continues to be difficult for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his men.
The Ukrainian navy said on Tuesday that it had hit the 370ft Russian Alligator-class tank carrier called the Orsk. It was sitting at anchor in the captured port of Berdyansk.

Three days prior to the strike, Russian state media filmed the Orsk unloading armored vehicles at the port, which many speculate the Ukrainian military used to target the vessel.
It is marked as the largest ship ever destroyed by Ukrainian forces, according to respected naval analyst H I Sutton, who said that it was ‘beyond reasonable doubt’ that an Alligator-class ship had exploded at the port.
This also represents another embarrassing loss for Putin at the hands of Kyiv’s men.
Earlier this month, tech billionaire Elon Musk gave Ukrainians access to his Starlink Satellites to help them destroy Russian tanks and army trucks.
Russia’s intensified invasion of Ukraine has resulted in widespread power outages, which has prompted Ukrainians to use Musk’s Starlink to connect to the internet.
The entrepreneur sent Starlink terminals into Ukraine last month at the request of Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, who has said the broadband internet service “keeps our cities connected and emergency services saving lives.”
“Starlink service is now active in Ukraine,” Musk tweeted about 10 hours after the country’s call for help. “More terminals en route.”
Since Russia launched its full-scale military operation in Ukraine, over 400 schools, 110 hospitals, and 1,000 residential blocks across Ukraine have been destroyed, according to Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov.
“We will win. It’s a question only of the price which the Ukrainian people will pay,” Reznikov said. “The Russians can be stopped, victory can be gained, but we need assistance.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky recently pleaded to President Joe Biden for additional aid from the West.
“You are the leader of the nation, of your great nation,” Zelensky said in a video address. “I wish you to be the leader of the world. Being the leader of the world means to be the leader of peace.”
The Biden administration already authorized the release of $350 million of military assistance to Ukraine last month and Congress recently reached a deal last week for another $13.6 billion in humanitarian and defense assistance.
