More than 5,000 records have been discovered by National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) employees that contain the aliases Joe Biden used while serving as Barack Obama’s vice president, according to the Washington Examiner.
Following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, the National Archives wrote to the conservative Southeastern Legal Foundation stating that a search of then-Vice President Joe Biden’s files produced approximately 5,138 emails, 200 pages of relevant documents, and an additional 25 electronic files containing Biden’s pseudonyms.
In order to obtain information about three email addresses Joe Biden was known to use while serving as vice president, the Southeastern Legal Foundation submitted a FOIA request last year. These addresses were “[email protected], [email protected]”, and “[email protected]”.
Biden communicated with his son Hunter and conducted official activities using these email addresses.
James Comer, the head of the House Oversight Committee, wrote to Colleen Shogan, the nation’s archivist, asking for copies of any documents and emails that use the fake names of then-Vice President Biden, Hunter, Hunter’s associates in business, Ukraine, and Burisma Holdings.
“Joe Biden has stated there was ‘an absolute wall’ between his family’s foreign business schemes and his duties as vice president, but evidence reveals that access was wide open for his family’s influence peddling,” Comer said.
“We already have evidence of then-Vice President Biden speaking, dining, and having coffee with his son’s foreign business associates,” he continued. “We also know that Hunter Biden and his associates were informed of then-Vice President Biden’s official government duties in countries where they had a financial interest. The National Archives must provide these unredacted records to further our investigation into the Biden family’s corruption.”
When the vice president was meeting with Ukraine while Hunter was on the board of Burisma, the vice president’s staff included Hunter in emails relating to his father’s schedule, based on emails discovered on Hunter’s abandoned laptop.
On May 26, 2016, John Flynn, the vice president’s personal assistant, sent an email to Hunter and his Rosemont Seneca company notifying them that the vice president will be speaking with the former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko.
Hunter was also included in a June 2016 email that contained the vice president’s schedule for the visit of the then-Ukrainian Prime Minister Groysman to the White House.
The Oversight Committee continues to seek for more connections between the then-vice president and Hunter’s international business transactions, as stated by Chairman Comer.
