Russia Spies on Americans with New Espionage App Collecting Your Face

US Cybersecurity expert warns Americans of using the New Espionage App owned by Linerock Investments, a Russian company based in Moscow.

Reports released by the Offshore Leaks database revealed that the company’s headquarters are located right near the building of the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The report also exposed the company after its director who is based in Moscow, Russia is also a shareholder company based in Panama City, Panama.

According to global cybersecurity expert from ESET Internet Security Jake Moore, the new profile pic app could harvest the users’ personal information including their photographs with facial-recognition quality.

The new profile pic app will reportedly ask for the users’ personal data and facial features in exchange for the free avatar that it offers.

For the users to download the app, it requires a voluntary consent to give their device details, location, browser type, IP address, and other photographs on their social media profiles.

After the news went viral, a spokesperson for the app responded, arguing that they are a company from the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and they have development offices located in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus.
