Yelena Navalnaya, who is married to activist Alexei Navalny, has spoken out again and asked Russians to stand by her after her husband’s unexpected death.
Alexei, Yulia’s husband, was an activist and politician who was serving a 30-year prison term in Russia. He was found dead after going for a walk in the jail, though, and his wife has been in the news since then. Yulia said from the start that she thought Putin had killed her husband, and she said that she still believed this and would soon explain why.
Following the news that her husband’s body would be kept for two more weeks for a “chemical examination,” Yulia made a 9-minute video in which she asked Russians to support her. To make Russia understand what happened, Yulia keeps shedding light on their position.
You shouldn’t have been here, and you shouldn’t be making this movie. Someone else should have been there instead of me. “But Vladimir Putin killed that person,” she said. She went on to say that she “knew why Putin killed Alexei three days ago” and would soon say what it was.
When Yulia’s husband died, she wasn’t generally in the news, giving interviews, or paying any attention to the media. Instead, she stood by her political husband as he spoke out. However, since her husband is no longer alive, she is fighting for the same things he was fighting for.
“I will carry on Alexei Navalny’s work,” she said. I want to live in and help build a free Russia.
The tape came out a few hours before her meeting with the EU foreign ministers, who were putting out new sanctions because of the death of her husband. “Never forget that Russia is not Putin and Putin is not Russia,” she told them, implying that they have more control than they believe.
