During a recent press event focused on “ending hidden junk fees,” tensions rose as US President Joe Biden confronted a reporter who reportedly asked about the FBI informant file referencing him as ‘the big guy.’
The incident took place on Thursday and drew attention to the increasingly sensitive issue surrounding the president.
Towards the conclusion of the event, Steven Nelson from the New York Post posed a direct question to President Joe Biden, asking “Why did the Ukraine FBI informant file refer to you as the ‘big guy’?”
The president, who had previously been questioned by Nelson on Tuesday about alleged tapes revealing a $5 million bribe from Burisma, has been notably evasive in his responses to these potentially damaging claims.
On Tuesday, President Biden smirked and laughed off the reporter’s inquiry and flashed a wide grin before abruptly walking away. Undeterred, Nelson continued his probing by asking, “Are there tapes that you accepted bribes, President Biden? Is that true?” However, the responses from both the president and his surrogates have followed a predictable pattern of dismissiveness and deflection since the explosive allegations came to light.
This is not the first time President Biden has been confronted about these allegations. Soon after the FBI delivered the FD-1023 document to the House Oversight Committee, a reporter asked the president about Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s assertion that damning evidence existed in the FBI file, implicating him in a betrayal of the country. Responding with a chuckle, President Biden retorted, “Where’s the money?”
White House spokespersons have also repeatedly downplayed and avoided addressing the scandal. During a press briefing last month, John Kirby, the White House National Security Council spokesman, declined to respond to questions about the matter. Instead, he stared at the reporter, expressing disbelief before simply stating, “Wow.”
