The White House sparked public criticism on social media after bragging about the “fastest decline in gas prices in a decade.”

Last Sunday, the White House posted a photo of a receipt, showing the current average national gas price.

“Today marks 95 days of dropping gas prices across the U.S. Americans are getting some breathing room at the pump as we continue on the fastest decline in gas prices in over a decade,” the White House said in its caption.

The post received a huge amount of backlash from the public as the Biden administration attempted to redeem the destroyed image of the Democrats ahead of the elections this year.

“You’re emptying our strategic petroleum reserves, selling some of it to China. It was $2.35 when Biden was sworn in you dishonest hacks,” a netizen on Twitter said.

“That’s odd…because the gas station down the street just increased their price by 30 cents,” another netizen added.

Others also pointed out the administration’s hypocrisy after Biden previously blamed Putin for the increasing gas prices.

“I thought that President had nothing to do with the price of gas ? It was “Putin’s price hike ” or whatever catch phrase, that week. You use 30% of our reserves ( that you have to buy back, with our tax dollars ) and take the credit ? If anyone falls for this, good riddens lol,” the netizen declared.

“You didn’t take blame for it going up you don’t get credit for it dropping *clown emoji*,” another netizen claimed.

During a press conference in San Pedro, California, on June 10, this year, US President Joe Biden claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin’s price hike was to blame for 8.6 per cent inflation recorded in May 2022.

“I understand inflation is a real challenge to American families. Today’s inflation report confirms what Americans already know. Putin’s price hike is hitting America hard.” Biden declared.

However, several experts, media and economists debunked Biden’s claim.

“Inflation had already been running hot for some time, rising by 2.5 percent between September 2021 and February 2022, which sits among the widest fluctuations of the past 20 years. Reports in January were already flagging high inflation, with some analysis showing Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising to 7% by December 2021, the largest year-over-year increase since 1982,” the Newsweek’s analysis reported.

“The reason in-part can be traced to the easing of Covid-19 restrictions, as businesses faced a supply chain crisis as economies reopened. A shortage of semiconductors, used in cars and household goods, was widely cited as another significant supply-side factor,” the analysis added.
