US Military Having a Harder Time Finding New Recruits

The United States military is reportedly having a tough time finding new recruits despite President Biden’s recent push to respond “militarily” against China’s potential invasion of Taiwan.

Early May this year, Biden declared that the United States would send its military to intervene if China attempts to take Taiwan by force.

The president also added that the United States would protect Taiwan from a Chinese attack.

“You didn’t want to get involved in the Ukraine conflict militarily for obvious reasons. Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?” a reporter asked.

“Yes. That’s the commitment we made. We agree with the One China policy. We signed on to it, and all the attendant agreements made from there, but the idea that it can be taken by force, just taken by force, is (just not) appropriate,” Biden responded.

However, despite the clear need of the country to expand its national defense, the US military is showing a growing concern on maintaining the military which would require new recruits.

Recently it was revealed that America is facing issues with military recruitment ever since Covid-19 began to hit the country early 2020.

In an official statement released by Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Edward W. Thomas revealed that Americans’ trust in their government is “declining.”

Thomas also claimed that the withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan in 2021 has played a huge role and certainly didn’t help either, with 13 service members reportedly dead.

Furthermore, another factor that also led the US military to the crisis was the vaccine mandates that the government imposed on the military in response to the rampant spread of Covid-19 across the country.

Meanwhile, some service members are turning in exemption requests just to avoid the vaccine mandates.

However, most of these requests have been denied with very little review.

“To date, only 58 religious-based exemptions from Biden’s military vaccine mandate have been granted… out of approximately 22,000(!) applications. Today, I filed legislation to protect our military servicemembers from being punished for their religious beliefs.” House Representative, Mike Johnson said.
