NORAD revealed a routine training mission to hold Falco Virgo exercises in Washington, DC
NORAD claimed that the recent drills were part of the routine and recurring training meant to support Operation NOBLE EAGLE, which is a mission to control and monitor the airspace over the United States.
The announcement was released on February 8 and NORAD claimed that it was holding Falcon Virgo exercises, adding that the “Continental US NORAD Region will conduct a series of exercises intended to help sharpen the agency’s intercept and identification operations during airspace security events,” the United Voice reported.
In the report published the Weather boy, the exercises are believed to be tied to Operation NOBLE EAGLE .
“Operation NOBLE EAGLE was initiated following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. While NORAD’s mission has always been to protect the airspace of the U.S. and Canada, prior to 9/11, NORAD was primarily postured to look outward. According to NORAD, their mission has changed over the last two decades to include a focus on threats that may originate within the U.S. and Canada, and the addition of a maritime warning mission,” the report added.

Following the announcement, NORAD announced Twitter new updates regarding the said exercises, claiming that the “Air Force Civil Air Patrol, US Coast Guard, and Air National Guard will support the mission, which is expected to take place across several areas, including the National Capital Region,” it continued.
On February 15, the agency made it clear that the exercise had nothing to do with the recent incidents related to the suspected Chinese balloon that was spotted hovering the country earlier.
In the press releases, the agency claimed it “routinely conducts air defense exercises using a variety of scenarios, including airspace restriction violations, hijackings, and responding to unknown aircraft.”
On February 2, a very large balloon that was traced back to China was seen flying over the airspace of the US.
Following the pressure from the public and republicans, the Biden administration shot the balloon down off the coast of South Carolina.
“That incident became the first time U.S. military shot-down another aircraft over North America since the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Since then, a UFO was spotted and shot down on Friday over Alaska, Saturday over Canada, and Sunday over Lake Huron near the U.S. / Canadian border,” Weatherboy added.
