Ukrainian forces are blocking logistical and strategic corridors for Russian troops and taking out a key bridge in Kherson, in an attempt to destroy Russia’s plans to deploy its troops in the south.

On Wednesday, Defense officials revealed that the country is now attempting to control and prevent Russia from proceeding to its plan to advance its troops in the South amid the escalating battle between the country and Russia.

In an official statement released by Natalia Humeniuk, Head of the joint coordination press center for the Ukrainian Defense Forces, she claimed that “high precision strikes had hit the Antonovsky Bridge in the country’s attempt to control the “Russian logistical and transportation routes”, local Ukrainian news outlets revealed.

During a local press conference, the reporters pressed Humeniuk about the implications if Kyiv will target its own infrastructure.

In response, Humeniuk made it clear that “we are not destroying infrastructure, we are destroying the enemy’s plans.”

According to the reports, the bridge that Ukraine now targets which crosses the Dnieper River, became the major strategic priority of Ukrainian defense forces in recent weeks while they seek server access between the Russian army in Kherson who occupied the areas off of the Crimean Peninsula.

However, there are no specific details yet as to what weapon was used to target the bridge but other reports showed that Ukraine has stalled Russian forces along the front lines with the aid of U.S. supplied High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS).

On Friday, U.K. defense officials claimed that they believed that the Russian forces had been able to repair the bridge enough to get “some traffic” through on Friday after it was damaged last week after the Ukrainian forces sought to staunch Moscow’s logistical corridor.

Several posts were also posted on Tuesday night on Telegram, claiming that explosions were reported that allegedly targeted the Antonovsky Bridge and Kyrylo Stremousov, who have been described as a “collaborator” for Russia.

Pravda also reported that there was “damage to the thoroughfare following a series of strikes by Ukrainian forces.”

“The enemy is concentrating its main efforts on preventing the advance of our troops. The enemy actively uses UAVs for aerial reconnaissance.” Ukrainian Defense officials said in an operational update Wednesday.
