Former US President Donald Trump sparked controversy following a post on his Truth Social platform early this week.
Late Monday night, the former US President released a striking post, ripping into the January 6th committee, sparking new controversy amid his campaign ahead the 2024 presidential election.
Donald Trump reportedly celebrated Tucker Carlson for being “one of the biggest ‘scoops’ as a reporter in U.S. history.”
Moreover, he also called for the authorities to prosecute every member of the J6 committee.
Trump’s controversial statement came after Carlson released several clips that have never been published, from the controversial protest that took place on January 6th which has sparked an intense alarm regarding the honesty of the January 6th committee.
In the statement, the 45th President argued that “the Unselect Committee LIED, and should be prosecuted for their actions.”
Former US leader Trump also alleged that the Unselect Committee was “a giant SCAM” that “has now unequivocally been stamped as CRIMINAL FABRICATORS OF THIS MOST IMPORTANT DAY.”
In addition, Trump never missed the chance to blast other US lawmakers and took aim at Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Rep. Nancy Pelosi (R-CA), alleging that they both “failed on security.”
“A whole new, and completely opposite, picture has now been indelibly painted…Nancy & Mitch were a disaster on Security.” Trump added.
Furthermore, he also made reference to the alleged false claims and statements about Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick and called Carlson’s segment on Sicknick “sad and difficult to watch.”
The US leader also claimed that “‘Trump’ and most others are totally innocent, LET THEM GO FREE, NOW!”
Meanwhile, the former President continued to acknowledge the efforts of House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and praised the latter for giving Carlson the access to the footage “so that our Country, and indeed the World, can see what really went on during the January 6th events.”
Trump’s controversial statement came as New York prosecutors reportedly invited the former to testify to a grand jury over the case of Stormy Daniels, his lawyer has confirmed.
“The Manhattan district attorney has investigated Mr Trump for five years over alleged hush money payments made on his behalf to the ex-porn star. Inviting him to a grand jury indicates he could face charges, US media report. Ms Daniels says she got $130,000 before the 2016 election in exchange for silence about an alleged affair,” BBC reported.
