Melanie Benesh, who works for the Environmental Working Group and helps keep track of PFAS pollution in water around the world, said, “With today’s action, these toxic chemicals will finally be taken out of our water.” Americans have been drinking water that is polluted for decades.
A cap on this substance has been put in place by the government to protect up to 100 million people from getting sick with diseases like cancer.
Michael Regan said, “The result is a comprehensive and life-changing rule that will improve the health and vitality of so many communities across our country.”
There is now a new limit on the highest level of contamination in drinking water. This comes after years of different health warnings being sent out about the problem.
