A question I get frequently is “Where do I go in a crisis situation?” Unfortunately, when disaster strikes, it may be difficult to figure out where to go and where to take your family. You usually have 3 basic options: bug in, bug out or go to some sort of designated safety area.
So, which one do you choose? You see, no crisis or disaster situation is the same. And one wrong decision can cost you. In fact, it can cost you your life. Wouldn’t it be nice to know what is best for your particular situation and for your particular family needs?
What if I told that you have a unique opportunity to have access to information that could help you make that decision or run through some scenarios to prepare you to make it if and when the need arises?
Actually, you have that opportunity today. By becoming a member of the United Survivalist Association (USA), you join a group of people who not only get the best prepper manuals, tips and how-tos from a lifetime survival expert but an opportunity to run through unlimited disaster scenarios as they pertain to your unique situation.
Before I get to that, I will share with you the 6 main factors that should affect your emergency decision-making:
- Type of a disaster
- Your location on the large scale (country, state, town) and on the small scale (home vs. work vs. out on the street)
- Proportions of the disaster
- Expected duration of a disaster
- Relative safety of your temporary and permanent locations
- Your personal predicament (your equipment, skills, health, people you are responsible for, etc)
These decisions are easy in some situations. A tornado is one good example. “Stay home if you are home. Seek a secure shelter if you are not. Take shelter on the lowest level of wherever you are, hunker down and stay down until the tornado warning is lifted.” Another good example is a flood. You know the basement is not a good option in that scenario.
But what about other, less obvious situations? What about a terrorist attack or social unrest? Should you stay at work if you are at work? Should you run home to your family? Should you walk or drive? As you’ve learned above, it all depends on those 6 main factors and they are usually different for everyone. On top of that, you may not be able to think straight during a crisis. You may make a rash decision that you wouldn’t have made had you been given a chance to think about it or plan for it.
