The EU’s Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) says that ocean temperatures hit an all-time high last month. This past February was the warmest ever reported.
The temperatures were a little higher than the previous February, but they have been getting higher every February. The average air temperature was also high, and it was the ninth month in a row that it was warm.
Both the air and sea temperatures are rising, which can be bad for the polar oceans, marine life, and people. We were told that January would be the hottest on record, and the records have shown that they were right.
Experts say that fighting the presence of greenhouse gases is the most important thing that can be done to stop the threat of rising world temperatures. Many experts thought that the temperatures would drop after El Nino, but they were wrong. The temperatures in the ocean stayed surprisingly high.
This can be very bad for both people and sea life because the temperatures are going up. When corals are stressed by too much heat, they bleach. This can make them weak and easily broken, which can kill marine life.
Climate change is one of the main causes of the warming on Earth, even though El Nino is partly to blame for the present weather. , “The only way to stop global temperatures from rising is to cut greenhouse gas emissions quickly.”
Richard Allan, a climate scientist, said, “What’s more surprising is that sea surface temperatures are at record highs in places like the tropical Atlantic and Indian Ocean that are far from the center of El Nino.”
