A 17-year old girl in Texas becomes a multi-millionaire after years of working hard as a CEO of her own lemonade business.
Mikaila Ulmer, from Texas, reportedly created her own brand of lemonade at the age of 11, which scored an $ 11 million deal from Whole Foods in 2016.
After signing the deal with the company, her products were stocked in 55 stores in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.
Ulmer revealed that she first thought of the idea when she was four after she received an old cookbook from her great-grandma, showing a 1940’s recipe for flaxseed lemonade.
She then decided to add “honey” to the ingredients and started selling it outside their house.
“I decided to give her beloved lemonade a new twist by adding honey from bees, instead of only sugar.” The teen said. “That’s how Be Sweet Lemonade was born!”
“However, we had to change the name due to a copyright issue so we decided to call it Me & the Bees Lemonade because we give a percentage of sales to help save the bees. We are now celebrating more than 10 years in ‘buzzness!” She added in a statement.
Moreover, the teen also revealed that she has been “donating a percentage of the profits to local and international organizations fighting hard to save the honeybees.”
10 years later, the teen’s little idea grew and is buzzing off the shelves of “Whole Foods Market, The Fresh Market, World Market, H-E-B stores across Texas and Kroger stores in Houston. It is also available at a growing number of restaurants, food trailers and natural food delivery companies.” Read a statement from her company website.
Her product is called Me & the Bees Lemonade which has been stocked in 1,500 stores across America even before she turned 18.
According to the reports, Ulmer initially received a $60,000 investment that helped the teen support her growing business from investor Daymond John after she appeared on the television show Shark Tank US in 2015.
She was also invited in the same year to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House.
