Republican Senator Lindsey Graham called for the US Military to attack Russian fights that intercept the US drones.
Graham’s controversial remark was fueled by the recent encounter where an MQ-9 Reaper plunged into the Black Sea on Tuesday.
In a statement released by the veteran hawk during an interview with Fox News, Graham asked “what would Ronald Reagan do right now?” before suggesting that “he would start shooting Russian planes down, if they were threatening our assets.”
Moreover, Fox News host Sean Hannity, a fellow foreign policy hawk, also called for the shooting down of two Russian drones over Ukraine in retaliation, and even threatened to destroy ten more “the next time.”
In response, Graham acknowledged former US President Donald Trump’s approach, including his order to kill Iranian General Qasem Soleimani for allegedly “killing Americans all over the Middle East.”

“Soleimani was a key figure in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and was hailed as a national hero for his efforts to quash the terrorist group Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS). Tehran retaliated over his killing, which occurred in January 2020 during a visit to Iraq, by bombarding US military bases in the country with missiles,” RT News revealed.
Graham’s statement comes as the Pentagon released a striking statement, alleging the Russian military pilots of conducting unsafe air maneuvers near the US drone. The Pentagon claimed that it was on a surveillance mission near Crimea when the incident took place.
According to the Pentagon, an Su-27 allegedly hit the Reaper’s propeller which caused it to ditch in the sea.
Amid the allegations, the Russian Defense Ministry debunked the reports of a collision, alleging that the drone stalled after it executed a drastic maneuver.
Moreover, Graham concluded his statement, blasting the Biden administration and argued that the problem began when the President ordered the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan in 2021.
“If Putin gets away with this, there goes Taiwan. The two are connected,” Graham claimed.
Furthermore, “Beijing has said its policy is to pursue peaceful reunification with Taiwan, but that it could resort to military force should the island’s government attempt to formally declare independence. The Chinese government has alleged that some in Washington are encouraging such an outcome,” RT News reported.
