US President Joe Biden remains in denial after being confronted by a Fox News reporter over multiple misstatements during a press conference recently.
Previously, Biden appeared to say that American forces were going to Ukraine to back up the troops against the Russians. However, the White House claimed it wasn’t true.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan also disproved another of Biden’s misstatements where he appeared to say that the U.S. and NATO were prepared to use chemical weapons in Ukraine if Russia first used them.
In addition, his statement that appeared to call for regime change in Russia when he claimed that “Putin can’t remain in power,” was also disproved by the White House.
However, following Biden’s misstatements, another press conference was held where he was grilled by Fox News correspondent Peter Doocey.
Apparently, Biden was seemingly not aware that the White House walked back his misstatements.
“Are you worried that other leaders in the world are going to start to doubt that America is back if some of these big things that you say on the world stage keep getting walked back?” Peter Doocy asked.
“What’s getting walked back?” Biden asked.
Doocy then reminded Biden of what he previously said and also opened up how the White House corrected Biden’s misstatements.
The US President then declared, “None of the three occurred.”
Moreover, despite the president’s denial, Doocey pressed the issue but Biden insisted that his statements were misinterpreted and his language was missing a context.
With regards to the chemical weapons, Biden declined to provide further details after claiming that “Russia used chemical weapons in Ukraine it would trigger a significant response.”
“I’m not going to tell you. Why would I tell you? You’ve got to be silly,” president Biden told the Fox correspondent.
“The world wants to know,” Peter Doocy pressed.
“The world wants to know a lot of things. I’m not telling them what the response would be, then Russia knows the response.” Biden explained.
