A convicted killer who attempted to cross the border in Texas was nabbed earlier this month.
According to the reports, the previously convicted killer who was also deported was caught sneaking around an interior immigration checkpoint in Texas with a group of immigrants.
The Del Rio Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended the man who was a Mexican national with a conviction for manslaughter.
In a report tweeted by Del Rio Sector Chief Patrol Agent Jason D. Owens, the Brackettville Station agents, captured the man along with four others who attempted to avoid detection.
“Brackettville agents encountered 5 subjects attempting to avoid detection. What’s different about this particular encounter? 1 of those subjects had a previous conviction of 1st Degree Murder! Not the type of individual you want on your streets.” Owens tweeted.

The authorities then later revealed that the five immigrants the agents encountered were placed into custody for illegally entering the U.S. during the processing.
The agents then identified one of the illegal immigrants as 32-year-old Juan Carlos Perez-Reyes who is a Mexican national.
Amid the biometric background investigation, the authorities found out Perez-Reyes was convicted by an Oklahoma court for first-degree manslaughter in 2009 and the Oklahoma court sentenced Perez-Reyes to 15 years in state prison.
In November 2021, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) deported Perez-Reyes to Mexico after he completed his prison term.
Following his recent arrest, the Mexican is now facing a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison if gets charged and convicted for the illegal re-entry into the country following his removal as a deported felon.
Since October 1, 2021, during the fiscal year, the Del Rio Sector agents have encountered over 1,650 “criminal migrants” after they illegally re-entered the United States.
Moreover, the Border Patrol agents in total have apprehended nearly 8,400 criminal immigrants across the country.
Not only that, they have also encountered 665 migrants with active criminal activity.
The 2021 U.S. Customs and Border Protection data showed that among those criminals “were 265 sex offenders, 576 individuals convicted of assault, battery and domestic violence and 982 drug offenders.”
