An off-duty cop in Alabama was attacked in his own front yard on Tuesday.
According to the reports, Decatur Officer Jack Brown was relaxing at home around 5 p.m. when an unfamiliar black Jeep Wrangler stayed idly in front of his house.
After the police officer noticed the vehicle, he reportedly went out to ask the driver if he needed help but he didn’t expect what happened next.
In the video footage caught by Brown’s ring camera, the officer can be seen approaching the vehicle and seconds later, the suspect’s jeep darts forward as Jack barely escapes.

The vehicle then hit the tree while Jack hit the pavement as he was frantically running towards his house, calling for backup.
The suspect then exited his vehicle and attempted to run towards Jack’s house but went back as Jack came running with a pointed pistol.
The police officer then confronted the suspect with his gun pointing at him while the suspect returned to his crashed car and turned the ignition and hit Reverse.
As the suspect attempted to drive away, the police officer fired his gun several times. However, the suspect came back and his vehicle catched Jack on its hood, pushing him far outside the camera’s frame.
“Hill got back into his vehicle and Officer Brown attempted to get him out of the driver’s seat. Instead, Hill drove directly into Officer Brown, who discharged his weapon into the Jeep numerous times,” the report says.
Following the incident, Decatur police spokeswoman Irene Cardenas-Martinez released a statement and claimed that the officer “was at his home with his family in the 2200 block of 11th Street S.E. when Hill approached the officer’s residence on 11th Street S.W. in Decatur.”
Cardenas-Martinez also added that it appeared that there was no connection between Brown and the suspect.
Brown was taken to the hospital and has since been released. Meanwhile, the suspect was identified as 54-year-old Gregory Martin Hill.
“W]e have two small children who were at home at the time. [Jack] went inside and told the kids to hide and went back outside in an effort to protect our home and family after calling 911. My husband is blessed to be alive. He is sore, bruised, and scraped up but no serious injuries.” Jack’s wife said.
On Thursday, Hill was booked into the Morgan County Circuit Judge Charles Elliott with bond set at $1 million cash.
