Shocking video released by the New York Police Department shows a bystander tending to a boy who survived a six-story fall from a building in the Bronx.

“When a 4-year-old boy fell out of a 6th-floor window in the Bronx yesterday, residents tending to the boy immediately called 9-1-1. In a coordinated effort by the residents, EMS, and officers from @NYPDPSA7, the boy was rushed to the hospital & is currently in stable condition,” the NYPD tweeted.

In the video, the bystander was surrounded by police and handed the child off to an officer, running with him to an awaiting police van.

The NYPD reportedly drove the boy to Lincoln Medical Center where he was placed on a stretcher and tended by EMTs. He was listed in stable condition, police said.

“It looks like he might have pushed the air conditioner out and fell out,” a police source said. The NYPD added that the child’s mom was home at the time.

The incident happened on Tuesday at NYCHA’s Patterson Houses on East 143rd Street in Mott Haven when the 4-year-old boy fell after apparently pushing an air conditioner out of a sixth-story window.

The video has received a wide range of responses on social media, with many praising the NYPD for their swift action while some complained about the safety of the building.

“[Heroes] all I see. [Heroes] all around. God gave you the grace needed to accomplish that rescue that day and give that boy strength to survive, wrote one Twitter user.

“God bless and protect our real officers. They are precious gems. Thank you, Lord, for [sparing] that [child’s] life, said another, adding that the boy’s parent needs to be scolded.

“Where are the window guards in this NYCHA building which could have prevented this?” a user asked, with another one replying that they saw a gap in the window “so it looks like [it] broke off or was missing.”

“The building residents should get a notification each year, and if new, when they move in, asking if there is a child in the apartment so the super can install window guards. Did the resident get this letter?” complained another.
