New York City Governor Kathy Hochul and her Democrat Party were slammed over her newly signed  landmark and legislative package to strengthen gun control in NY.

On Tuesday, Hochul signed the bills at the Northeast Bronx YMCA, flanked by Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Speaker Carl Heastie, partners in the legislature, Attorney General Letitia James and victims and survivors of gun violence in response to the recent mass shootings in Buffalo, New York and Uvalde, Texas.

In a recent official statement released by Hochul, the governor claimed that “gun violence is an epidemic that is tearing our country apart. Thoughts and prayers won’t fix this, but taking strong action will.”

“In New York, we’re taking bold steps to protect the people of our state. I am proud to sign a comprehensive bill package.”

According to the bill, it will allow the authorities to prohibit “the sale of semiautomatic weapons to people under 21, bans body armor sales outside of people in select professions, closes critical gun law loopholes and strengthens our Red Flag Law to keep guns away from dangerous people new measures that I believe will save lives” Hochul added.

However, many Americans doubted that the measures would protect the civilians from the criminals. Instead, these would remove the rights of the law-abiding citizens to carry weapons and protect themselves from harmful criminals.

“What about SAFE? These gun control measures were put through by disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo after the horrific Sandy Hook massacre, but they didn’t end up stopping gun violence at all.” The Arms Guided noted.

Hochul also made it clear that the measures would not infringe on the rights of hunters, shooting sportspeople,  or those who follow the law and wish to own weapons.

But the critics believe that these measures, banning the weapons and body armors won’t stop the criminals from owning such. Instead, these will make law-abiding citizens more vulnerable to criminals.

“It’s true he was wearing body armor, but citizens who want to protect themselves against these kinds of predators need to be able to wear things like bulletproof vests and protective equipment.” The article added.

“And criminals will suddenly obey THIS law Governor Hochul? All you did was take rights away from people you actually abide by the law. Criminals don’t care what laws you make. New York Governor Hochul signs new gun control bills into law.” A concerned netizen posted on Twitter.
