Veteran NFL player Robert Quinn was arrested on Friday following multiple hit-and-run incidents, according to reports.
WCSC reported that Quinn turned himself in to authorities in Summersville, South Carolina, roughly 25 miles northwest of Charleston.
The former NFL defensive end is facing multiple charges, including third-degree assault and battery, hit-and-run with property damage, and four counts of leaving the scene after a traffic incident.
Quinn was reportedly driving on Tuesday evening when he crashed into four cars, a community gate, and a light post in the Carrington Chase community.
Witnesses told the news outlet that Quinn was “belligerent” before allegedly fleeing the scene, which likely led to the assault charge.
“He was very belligerent,” said witness Lisa Ball, who was reportedly sitting in her car when she was hit by the NFL free agent . “He kept saying, ‘Oh don’t worry about it, I’ll buy you new cars, I’ll buy you a new car, let’s go to the dealership.’”
“I told him to get off my property and he proceeded to put his hands on me and slap me not once but twice,” Ball added.
Authorities were then called to the scene of the hit-and-runs, where they found Quinn’s wrecked truck. In the passenger side of the car, police also found a “partially empty bottle” of Crown Royal Apple whiskey.
The 33-year-old football player was previously involved in a crash in Missouri in 2012, for which he was charged with DUI. He ultimately entered a guilty plea to failing to exercise a high degree of care and paid a $277 fine.
Quinn has been in the NFL for more than 12 years after being selected by the Rams with the 14th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. With the Rams in 2013, he tallied a league-high 23 tackles for loss and a career-high 19 sacks, earning him All-Pro recognition. After accumulating 18.5 sacks while playing for the Chicago Bears in 2021, Quinn was named to his second All-Pro team.
He gained notoriety after being traded to Philadelphia just before last year’s trade deadline. Quinn, who had just one sack with the Bears before being traded, had zero sacks with the Eagles after the deal. In nine games, with the Eagles, he only recorded four tackles.
