President Joe Biden’s popularity continues to decline and a new poll suggests that things aren’t getting any better.
A survey released by NBC News on Sunday revealed that the president’s approval rating stands at just 40 percent, a three percent drop since January and a historic low for Biden since he took office.
The poll also reported that only 64 percent of Black voters approved Biden’s performance as president, which is a two percent drop from January.
Additionally, Hispanic voters in support of the president dropped from 48 percent to 39 percent, while women voters declined from 51 percent to 44 percent — which shows an alarming precedent for the Democratic party, as these demographic groups are key for them.
This indicates that an increasing number of Americans are losing trust in the president, including fellow party members who have left Biden behind as they lift his administration’s abrasive health restrictions.
Democrats are fearing that the dissatisfaction with the Biden administration could cost them their majority in Congress during the November 8 midterm elections.
“What this poll says is that President Biden and Democrats are headed for a catastrophic election,” said Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinions Strategy.
McInturff helped conduct the survey with Democrat Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates between March 18 and March 22. Horwitt noted that the ongoing war in Ukraine is not doing Biden any favors.
“One thing that has not happened — at least yet — is a rally-around-the-flag reaction with Joe Biden’s job rating increasing,” Horwitt said. “The potential for that to occur could still happen if America becomes more directly involved, but at this stage it is not there.”
Meanwhile, recent polling also showed that 46 percent of the American public is not satisfied with Vice President Kamala Harris’s performance following a series of policy-related mishaps; from neglecting the southern border crisis to coming unprepared at a NATO conference.
Many have speculated that Harris is a hard boss to work for, causing the vice president’s high turnover rates after her Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh announced that she was leaving Harris’ team and is heading to work for the Department of Defense instead.
