On Friday, June 9, three schools in west-end Ottawa became the center of “dueling protests” reported by The Star, a Canadian daily. One group of protesters voiced their opposition to teaching LGBTQ material to children, while another group of counter-protesters supported it.
During the protests, Joel Harden, a liberal lawmaker from the New Democratic Party and Member of Provincial Parliament for Ottawa Centre, claimed to have been punched in the face by a woman for supporting “queer and trans youth.”
However, conflicting reports emerged challenging his claim, suggesting that he accidentally cut himself with a megaphone.

One aspect that has been largely overlooked in the media coverage is the presence of Muslims among the protesters opposing the LGBTQ material. Independent journalist Andy Ngo shared a video clip from the protest, showing Muslim men and women expressing their opposition to LGBTQ content in schools. In the video, one Muslim woman encourages her young son to stomp on pride (LGBTQ) flags.
The longstanding political alliance between liberal governments and Muslim immigrants, with liberals facilitating their mass immigration and settlement in the West, while Muslims vote for liberal candidates, may face challenges as Muslims participate in protests against the LGBTQ agenda. Élie Cantin-Nantel, a Canadian journalist, shared a tweet by a liberal educator who expressed displeasure at seeing Muslims protesting alongside conservatives against the LGBTQ movement’s targeting of children.
The educator suggested implementing a new screening process for immigrants to ensure they would “respect Canada’s Human Rights Code.”
Moreover, in another incident, a liberal teacher at a junior-high school in Edmonton, Alberta, confronted Muslim students in her class for not attending pride (LGBTQ) activities at the school. The audio recording of the teacher’s outburst was shared on Rumble by Rebel News.
These incidents shed light on the fact that many Muslim immigrants in the West do not share or support the left’s LGBTQ agenda and are teaching their children to abstain from participating in pride events and activities.
Last week, Muslim parents in Maryland joined a protest against the Montgomery County public school district, opposing the promotion of homosexuality and transgenderism in schools. The Muslim protesters chanted slogans demanding “religious freedom now” and to “protect our children,” aligning with conservative demands often heard in the United States.
