Far-right Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene blasted former Trump administration official Steve Bannon after saying that she should be challenged by a “Real MAGA”
This comes after Bannon criticized now-former ally Greene for supporting the debt ceiling deal, calling for her to be challenged in the next primary.
In text messages between Greene and fellow conservative Rep. Matt Gaetz, the congresswoman acknowledged that there’s been a fallout between her and the Republican Party.
“I have almost the same identical voting record as Thomas Massie, the most fiscally conservative member of Congress. And I voted with him on this bill,” Greene wrote in the lengthy text, which was obtained by The Daily Beast. “And Bannon, who was senior counsel to Trump in the WH and responsible for the first debt ceiling increase bc Bannon is reckless and no where near fiscally responsible, is now telling everyone I should be primaried.”
“I just had a town hall in Cobb County last night in the most populated area in my district and it was extremely successful. Standing ovation when I went in and standing ovation when I left,” the text continued.
Following Bannon’s denunciation of Greene, a wave of conservative personalities later followed in dunking the Georgia Republican.
“I 100 percent support a challenge to MTG, and look forward to meeting and helping a serious challenge to her,” Stew Peters told The Daily Beast.
“She took a job from me when she publicly accused me of being crazy… and told Trump not to hire me,” far right, activist and former Florida congressional candidate Laura Loome also told the publication. “I think it’s only fair that I get a shot at taking her job, too.”
“You know what Donald Trump always says? An eye for an eye,” she added.
Greene and other House Freedom Caucus members have recently had disagreements. Last week, the congresswoman got into a few fights with conservatives who opposed the debt limit agreement, including a Twitter exchange with Texas Rep. Chip Roy.
However, even before the catty back-and-forth with Roy, Greene and Colorado Rep. Boebert got into a spat in the Speaker’s Lobby bathroom over their opposition to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s speakership bid.
