According to the authorities, the brazen robbery incident took place in broad daylight at a Louis Vuitton store in Bellevue.

The police immediately identified the suspect as a 17-year old whose name was not released because he is a juvenile.

In a report released by KOMO News, the teenage suspect grabbed handbags worth $18,000 off displays and attempted to dart out of the store when he knocked himself unconscious after he ran into a plate glass window.

Moreover, amid a thorough investigation into the incident, prosecutors discovered that the suspect was part of a retail crime theft ring.

In a report released by Fox News, it was revealed that “more than 50 repeat offenders have been arrested in Bellevue for retail robbery and shoplifting, according to the report. The county has charged 59 organized retail theft cases so far this year.”

Just in August, five people suspected of major organized retail theft in Bellevue were arrested after authorities discovered that the suspects were connected to a string of retail thefts totaling more than $100,000 in stolen merchandise.

“The first case involved three suspects accused of stealing $93,000 in handbags from Louis Vuitton in Bellevue in June. A fourth suspect is accused of selling the stolen bags. According to investigators, the group hit the luxury brand store twice in June. Detectives found the stolen bags for sale online, arranged a buy, then arrested one of the suspects,” Fox News reported at that time.

Bellevue Police Cpt. Shelby Shearer immediately released an official statement after the incident, claiming that “these suspects were aggressive and coordinated in their efforts and often physically confronted employees or security who stood in their way. [This] crew also caused significant damage to the stores during the thefts, causing some businesses to close for the day to clean up the mess.”

“We joined the state’s Organized Retail Task Force committed to cracking down on this crime. These cases involved regional collaboration and partnerships with other law enforcement agencies and the affected businesses. Arresting these suspects reduces crime not only in Bellevue but regionally.” Shearer added.
