“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” James’ Family spokesperson said in a statement.

“Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU,” the spokesperson added.

The news sparked immediate concern and garnered attention from sports enthusiasts and fans around the world.

“We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information. LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes,” the spokesperson continued.

However, The Athletic reported on Tuesday that Bronny had been transferred out of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and was now in stable condition, which provided some relief to those worried about his well-being.

The incident occurred at the location where the USC Trojans basketball team plays and practices. The team’s 2023-24 season is not scheduled to begin until later this year, which means there was no immediate impact on the team’s activities.

USC declined to provide further comments on the situation, respecting the privacy of the James family during this difficult time.

“We are not in a position to comment out of respect for student privacy,” the university spokesperson said.

Bronny James, following in his father’s footsteps, had committed to playing for USC in May. His decision to join the Trojans came after considering offers from other prominent schools such as Ohio State and Oregon. As the 33rd ranked player in his class, Bronny’s skills and potential have been recognized, earning him the title of a McDonald’s All-American earlier this year.

Before his commitment to USC, Bronny attended Sierra Canyon High School in California, where he played a pivotal role in the school’s impressive record of 95 wins and 22 losses. Throughout his senior season, he showcased his abilities, averaging 14.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.

Despite the challenges posed by the cardiac arrest incident, Bronny James remains eligible for the 2024 NBA Draft, where he could have the opportunity to enter the professional basketball league. LeBron James himself has expressed his wish to play alongside his son in the NBA, adding an emotional and familial dimension to the young player’s journey.
