At the White House press briefing on Friday, questions regarding President Joe Biden’s age were made light of.
An AP-NORC poll conducted in August revealed that 77 percent of respondents believed that the 80-year-old Biden is too elderly to serve in office for another four years. According to the poll, 89 percent of Republicans and 69 percent of Democrats agree with that statement.
Similarly, a Wall Street Journal poll indicated that while just 47 percent of voters thought Trump, 77, was too old, 73 percent of voters thought Biden was.
Additionally, a Quinnipiac poll also gathered 68 percent of voters who thought Biden was too old, compared to only 34 percent of Trump supporters.
Given this context, a question regarding how Biden intends to change this mindset was posed to White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on Friday.
“Eighty is the new forty. Didn’t you hear?”, she reportedly responded in the briefing’s transcript provided by the White House.
“ 80 is a new 40”.
According to Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden demonstrates high efficiency and “achieves results.”

“You know, I get asked this question about once a week, maybe twice a week. I don’t know. I’ve lost track,” she continued. “This is a president, if you think about it — in 2019, he got the same criticism; in 2020, he got the same criticism; in 2022, he got the same criticism.”
Jean-Pierre explained that Biden defeats the doubters each time. He consistently goes above and beyond and creates history by accomplishing things that others are unable to do, which considers to be very significant.
She continued stating that the president’s track record is what she wants to continue to discuss as it was a historical milestone.
When asked why, considering Jean-Pierre’s claims of accomplishments, some believe Biden is too old, she responded, “You know, I can’t speak to every American out there and their concerns.”
Jean-Pierre remarked that she can talk about Biden’s experience and what he has done, his knowledge, and his record.
“When it comes to — when it comes to how Americans — what they’re saying about your particular question to me, that’s for them to speak to. I can just stay on — on our message — the platform that we’re trying to push forward, and that is delivering for the American people. We believe that we’re doing that,” she added.
