US President Joe Biden’s wife, First lady Jill Biden defended the President against questions regarding the classified document scandal.
On Thursday, Jill Biden came to Biden’s defense after the latter was questioned about the classified document controversy.
The ambush interview took place while the President was walking through the White House during the Lunar New Year event.
According to the reports, Biden was asked a question about whether he would allow the FBI to search one of his residences or not.
The question surprised the President, making him look flustered and that’s when his wife intervened and waved at the reporters.
The incident came after the FBI searched Joe Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, late last week. During this time, the FBI reportedly discovered additional hidden documents with classification markings.
In a report published by the Washington Examiner, it was revealed that Biden’s “legal team previously conducted their own sweep of both his Wilmington and Rehoboth homes but found no classified material in Rehoboth. Over two dozen sensitive documents have reportedly been recovered from his vice presidential days. The president has insisted he has been fully cooperating with investigators. Special counsel Robert Hur is overseeing an investigation into the matter.”
However, during the event on Thursday, President Joe Biden refused to answer questions on the mounting controversy but discussed the increasing violence the Asian American community has faced in the country over the recent months.
“As I’ve said many times before, hate can have no safe haven or harbor in America. No person deserves to be treated with hate — in a hateful way. They all deserve to be treated with dignity and with respect,” Biden said during his remarks at the event.
Biden’s comments came in the wake of the recent shooting rampage that took place in a predominantly Asian American city, Monterey Park, California, leaving 11 dead.
At the time of writing, the authorities have not yet revealed whether the attack was racially motivated or not.
Moreover, the Lunar New Year event also concluded with the first lady teasing Joe Biden, ribbing that his dancing could ruin the evening.
“Come on up Joe! No, you’re not going to dance. Believe me, you don’t want to ruin the evening.” Jill told the President.
