Fox News is moving Trace Gallagher to the 11:00 p.m. amid a new shakeup to increase the network’s ratings.

Gallagher, who last hosted the midnight hour, will now move his “FOX News @ Night” show to the 11:00 p.m. hour, pushing Greg Gutfield’s late-night talk show an hour earlier.

“It worked at midnight, and I think it’s going to be a star at 11,” he said in the announcement, adding that the move will provide other areas of the country with needed live national newscast at critical hours.

“It’s live, it’s live, it’s live,” Gallagher said. “Everything going on is live. So, that’s a big thing for our push to 11 p.m.… it’s 8 p.m. in California. People are still outside having dinner. It’s current. It’s now, we are still covering the news. The news day is still in progress.”

“11 p.m. traditionally across the country, regardless of where you are, 11:00 has been the news hour. That’s America’s news hour, right? Everybody knows the 11 o’clock news, you know, for local news,” he continued. “For us to be on at 8 p.m. in the West and 9 p.m. in Denver at 10 p.m. in Chicago and 11 p.m. in New York, it gives us a chance to capture audiences across the country and to become America’s late news for the entire country. That’s our goal.”

This comes as Fox News’ ratings have been tanking after forcing out Tucker Carlson in April in an apparent effort to rebuild the network’s audience.

Shortly after Carlson’s departure, Fox News reportedly lost over two-thirds of its audience, with a 39 percent drop in viewers during Sean Hannity’s 9 p.m. show and a 24 percent decrease in the key demographic during the 10 p.m. hour. The network’s prime-time programming, which is their main source of income, has also suffered from the decline in ratings.

It’s unclear what the future holds for Fox News as it tries to turn around its financial situation. But many believe the network needs to make some significant adjustments if they want to maintain their status as the country’s top cable news network.
