Former Fox News chief national correspondent Ed Henry has found himself in legal trouble once again, this time facing charges of driving under the influence (DUI) in Florida.
The incident took place on June 20, around 8 p.m. in West Palm Beach, according to official police records.
Henry, who was terminated from Fox News in 2020 following allegations of sexual misconduct, was reportedly spotted by a sheriff’s deputy driving his black Cadillac Escalade with a flat tire.
As the tire eventually came off the rim and rolled into oncoming traffic, a nearby vehicle had to swerve to avoid a collision.
The deputy, upon interaction with Henry, noted in the police report that the former correspondent had noticeable signs of impairment. Henry’s eyes were described as “glassy and bloodshot,” and his gait was deemed “unsteady.”
In addition, his speech was slightly slurred. During questioning, Henry admitted to consuming two bourbons between 6 and 7 p.m. while he was on Singer Island.
Despite cooperating with law enforcement officials, Henry struggled with various parts of the field sobriety test. He failed the “one-leg stand,” “the walk and turn,” and “finger on the nose” components.
A subsequent breathalyzer test revealed that his blood alcohol concentration was slightly below the legal limit of 0.08.
Following his arrest, Henry remained calm and quiet, exercising his right to counsel and refusing to answer further questions. His attorney, David Tarras, expressed confidence in his client’s ability to overcome the charges.
“Mr. Henry fully cooperated with the authorities during their investigation. He willingly provided a breath sample, which registered below 0.08, the legal limit in Florida.” Tarras said.
Throughout his career at Fox News, Henry held various prominent positions, including co-hosting the weekend edition of “Fox & Friends” and serving as the co-anchor of “America’s Newsroom.”
However, his tenure came to an abrupt end in 2020 when he was terminated following an internal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct.
The complaint was filed by a former Fox News employee, Jennifer Eckhart, who subsequently pursued legal action, accusing Henry of sexual harassment and rape in a federal lawsuit.
This recent incident compounds the legal challenges faced by the former Fox News reporter. Henry is expected to appear for his arraignment later this month as he navigates the legal proceedings surrounding the DUI charge.
