Former border agent Kathy Olivares blasted US President Joe Biden and his administration for his way of handling the now-debunked “whipping” case.
Olivares’ controversial remarks against the Biden administration came as the country suffered from the surge of migrants seeking to cross the US-Mexico border.
The Former border agent slammed Biden and claimed that the border agents involved in the incident were “vilified” for doing “their job.”
Olivares decided to sit with “America’s Newsroom” for an interview after the recent investigation revealed there was no evidence to support the allegations that the migrants were “whipped.”
“The agents were in that area because they were assigned there. They weren’t assigned there by a supervisor. They were assigned there by management. If management didn’t want them to be around people, be walking around people, which is one of the things that OPR has discovered, that they were walking around people, then they shouldn’t have been assigned there.” Olivares argued.
“These poor agents… They’re so frustrated, so much attention has been placed on a debunked video and nobody’s talking about the reason why they were there. Thousands upon thousands of people were crossing, and they were there to address that. They did their job, and now they’re being vilified for it.” She added.
Last June, a federal source revealed that the Department of Homeland Security was preparing to punish “multiple” horseback Border Patrol agents who were involved Haitian migrants incident at the U.S.-Mexico border back last year in September.
The revelation sparked outrage with agents describing it as “f—- bulls–t” and argued that “those agents did nothing wrong.”
National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd also slammed the decision and stated, “what we’re seeing right now is the executive branch weaponizing the Office of Professional Responsibility to go after what President Biden perceives as political opponents.”
“He doesn’t like the Border Patrol. He has never liked the mission of the Border Patrol. And now he is going after these agents because he panders to open border activists. This should never happen in this country.” Judd added.
The controversy began in September after images of the agents allegedly blocking the migrants while using “whips” circulated on Twitter.
Vice President Harris and President Biden blasted the agents and repeatedly accused them of whipping the migrants.
“To see people treated like they did, horses barely running over, people being strapped – it’s outrageous,” Biden told reporters.
“I promise you, those people will pay. There will be an investigation underway now and there will be consequences. There will be consequences.” The president added.
