Two deputies in Florida were sanctioned for leaking the result of Comedian Bob Saget’s death before being told to do so.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the pair of Florida cops were disciplined for leaking a word of the actor’s death in a hotel room in Orlando which resulted in the news breaking globally before the actor’s wife could be formally notified.

The Click Orlando identified the two cops as deputies Emiliano Silva and Steven Reed who have been hit with undisclosed penalties.

Bob Saget’s death leak reportedly began when Silva, who responded to the scene, told his brother about the actor’s passing who later posted the shocking news on Twitter.

“RIP Bob Saget,” Silva’s brother tweeted about 30 minutes after Silva got to the scene. When asked about where he heard the news from, Silva’s brother responded and said, “my brother is one of the deputies on scene right now.”

Moreover, just eighteen minutes after he posted the tweet, Manuel Silva, Emiliano Silva’s brother, deleted the tweet after his brother reportedly asked him to.

Meanwhile, Reed, who was off-duty at the time, was reportedly told of the incident and spread the news to his friends.

Reports revealed that he allegedly received a text from a man named Bradley Braunstein, who saw a tweet that read, “RIP Bob Saget” and asked him if it was true.

“What are they saying? I PMed you. My buddy is an Orlando Sheriff and is filling me in as he hears. Just wondering what you know.” Brad asked.

He then confirmed that Saget was indeed dead.

The department sanctioned the two deputies after they were immediately flooded with media inquiries before Saget’s wife, Kelly Rizzo, was told of his death.

Officials also revealed that the news circulated before the homicide detectives arrived at the scene.

On January 9, the actor was found dead in a hotel room in Orlando, Florida.

In a report published by The Independent, Saget reportedly told his event staff that he was not feeling well while he was performing his final comedy show.

“He said that his hearing had been off and that was the case that night [he performed]. He was asking the sound guys to turn everything up,” Rosalie Cocci, a showrunner at the concert hall, allegedly told Orange County police.

“[He said} that he had been sick the night before and… sick in the sense of like his hearing was off. He said that he had a sore throat, that he was happy he had lozenges for the stage.” Cocci continued.
