Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm was blasted by critics on social media over her insensitive remark, suggesting that poor people should buy solar panels.

Granhold’s remarks sparked public outrage on social media after she claimed that Americans should buy solar panels and suggested that lower to middle-class Americans should invest in solar panels and other green energy initiatives to fight the rising cost of living.

During an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Granhold explained how the Inflation Reduction Act would help Americans in the country.

The Energy secretary claimed that the law would impact everyday Americans especially people who are evidently struggling with record-high inflation, food, gasoline, and energy costs.

“If you are low income, you can get your home entirely weatherized through the expansion from the bipartisan infrastructure laws, a significant expansion — you don’t have to pay for anything. If you want heat pumps, insulation, new windows, that is covered,” she claimed.

“If you are moderate income, today you can get 30% off the price of solar panels. Those solar panels can be financed, so you don’t have to have the big outlay at the front. If you don’t qualify for the weatherization program, you will be able to, starting next year, get rebates on the appliances and equipment that will help you reduce your monthly energy bill by up to 30%. That is all about reducing costs for people.” Granholm added.

Several Americans have been criticizing Democrats for continuously lying amid the rising inflation and increasing prices for food, gas and other commodities in the country.

The criticisms were fueled by the Biden administration’s continued denial while Americans still struggle to feed their children or wondering how they would afford the gas to get to work.

“The GOP just needs to run ad after ad of Granholm telling the poors to buy solar panels and electric cars to save money.” Erick Ericksen tweeted in response to Granholm’s claim.

The Ohio Republican Senate candidate also blasted the energy secretary and tweeted, “If you’re poor, Tim Ryan will give you 30 percent off the price of solar panels. They won’t keep you warm this winter but they are made in China, so there’s that.”

“They don’t know how they sound. Because everything they read and everyone they know just echo their ideology back at them — except turned up in volume, higher in pitch, and with applause.” Omri Ceren added.
