In a tweet posted by Roscosmos Director-General Dmitry Rogozin last week, he lashed out at the Biden administration for imposing a wave of sanctions, impacting Russia’s space industry, claiming that “ISS could plummet from orbit if Russia withdrew its cooperation from the joint effort.”

“If you block cooperation with us, who will save the ISS from an uncontrolled de-orbit and fall into the United States or Europe? There is also the option of dropping a 500-ton structure to India and China. Do you want to threaten them with such a prospect? The ISS does not fly over Russia, so all the risks are yours.” Rogozin tweeted in Russian.

Following the tweet, Musk responded to the thread with the SpaceX logo.

Musk also confirmed that SpaceX would assist if “Russia withdrew its support in a way that endangered the space station.” and replied to the series of threads, detailing how SpaceX might aid the International Space Station if its Russian segment was detached, noting that it was a “good thread.”
