Governor Ron DeSantis slammed Tampa-based NBC affiliate reporter Evan Donovan for allegedly pushing a false left-wing narrative during a press conference recently.

According to the reports, the conversation got heated when Donovan asked the governor a question regarding the bill, which the critics refer to as “the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill.”

“Can I ask you about [inaudible] rights in education, what critics call the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill is on the [Florida] Senate floor…” Donovan asked.

DeSantis seemed to not like how the question was delivered, didn’t hold back and immediately interrupted, “Does it say that in the bill? Does it say that in the bill?”

After that Donovan responded “I know that you support —” but DeSantis interrupted and fired back, saying “I’m asking you to tell me what’s in the bill, because you are pushing a false narrative. It doesn’t matter what critics say.”

“It bans classroom instruction on sexual identity and gender orientation,” the reporter responded.

After that, DeSantis replied: “For who? For grades pre-K through three. So 5-year-olds, 6-year-olds, 7-year-olds.”

“And the idea that you wouldn’t be honest about that and tell people what it actually says it’s why people don’t trust people like you, because you peddle false narratives,” DeSantis continued.

HB 1557 is a new bill in Florida to reinforce the parents’ rights in making decisions about the “upbringing and control of their children that relate to the child’s mental, emotional, or physical well-being.

The bill also “prohibits classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels.”

Although many supported the bill, it also has enraged Democrats, LGBT advocates and other critics and even labeled the HB 1557 as “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

However, the bill not once use the word “gay.” It only “prohibits young children from being indoctrinated with progressive LGBT ideology at school.”

“So we disabuse you of those narratives. And we’re going to make sure that parents are able to send their kid to kindergarten without having some of this stuff injected into their school curriculum.” DeSantis concluded.
