A Democrat Rep. accidentally exposed that real motive of the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act.

In a statement released by Democratic Rep. Elaine Luria of Virginia during the Aug. 24 event with the BlueGreen Alliance, she revealed that the Inflation Reduction Act was more an environmental bill than one addressing inflation.

“The Inflation Reduction Act — that might be the name, but it’s a huge environmental bill that includes a lot of things, such as the tax credits necessary to make these kinds of developments,” Luria said.

Following the gathering, the Democrat posted on Twitter and said, “It was great being with local labor, environmental, and community leaders today in Chesapeake to highlight the investments being made in the offshore wind industry and workforce in Coastal Virginia.”

“Offshore wind is essential to our economic and national security and clean energy future. From the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to the Inflation Reduction Act, investing in offshore wind will combat climate change, create good-paying jobs & end our dependence on foreign energy. Coastal Virginia is well positioned to be a national and global leader in the offshore wind industry, and I enjoyed seeing how our workforce development in Hampton Roads is preparing to grow and sustain the future of offshore wind,” she added.

Last August 16, US President Joe Biden signed the Act into law which is loaded with green energy provisions.

The legislation comprises the $7,500 tax credit for electric vehicles and also expanded the Environmental Protection Agency’s control over the energy industry in hopes to respond to a Supreme Court ruling.

The Inflation Reduction Act also increased the Internal Revenue Service budget by $80 billion which allows the tax agency to hire more new 87,000 agents.

But despite the bill’s name, many believe the Inflation Reduction Act is expected to have no impact on inflation.

“I think America needs a plan that actually works,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy said during his speech urging his colleagues to vote against the bill.

“Why, if you passed an American Rescue Plan that caused inflation that we haven’t seen in 41 years? Why, if you went after the fossil fuel of America that raised the price of gasoline that Americans haven’t seen before? Why do you keep harming the American public and you think doing the exact same thing is the answer to say it?” He added.
