US Health authorities have issued a warning against contaminated ice creams that are being sold across the United States.
Several counties in the state of Florida reported individuals becoming very sick after consuming ice cream which is part of the ongoing health controversy regarding contaminated food, including onions which are being sold in over 10 states recently.
The onion contamination reportedly killed two individuals with numerous victims being rushed to the hospital in serious condition.
In a statement released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), researchers discovered that the contaminated ice cream contained listeria, which is considered a serious bacterial sickness that can spread through food, causing serious health problems and even death.
Reports revealed that the contaminated ice creams are believed to be sold by Big Olaf Creamery, which is only distributed across Florida. Reports revealed that after people consumed the ice cream, they became extremely ill.
Following the series of reports, the CDC warned the public not to consume ice cream or other products from Big Olaf’s at this time until the concern is fully investigated.
“LISTERIA OUTBREAK UPDATE: Do not eat Big Olaf Creamery ice cream. If you have Big Olaf Creamery brand ice cream at home, throw away any remaining product. This ice cream is only sold in Florida. This investigation is ongoing.” The CDC tweeted.
Following the warning, the Big Olaf responded and claimed that the “speculation that their ice cream is to blame for listeria illnesses is not proven; they will wait for any confirmation that it’s true.”
The controversy comes as 24 people have become extremely ill while one pregnant woman and unborn child died after consuming contaminated onions.
Reports revealed that the onion outbreak was found in over ten states, mainly in Florida. It also has occurred in Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Minnesota, Kansas, Georgia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
The reports of people who have bought onions, getting extremely sick, and being rushed to hospitals first started occurring in January this year. However, the cases have been continuing up until last month.
Listeria is a type of food poisoning and is extremely serious that it can kill a person.
Research showed that most of the time listeria shows symptoms including body pain, fever, vomiting, and flu-like symptoms that start right away.
