A group of conservative Americans filed a lawsuit against the Federal Bureau of Investigation over its failure to disclose communications between the agency and Big Tech companies.
America First Legal, founded by ex-staffers under former President Trump alleged in their lawsuit that the FBI concealed information posted online about the contents of President Biden’s son Hunter’s explosive laptop and some communications between the agency and Big Tech companies immediately before the 2020 presidential election.
The Big Tech companies included Facebook whose previous CEO confessed to censoring information regarding the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop.
The AFL which was led by former Trump White House advisor Stephen Miller, filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in a Washington, D.C., federal court on Tuesday
“The evidence is that the FBI and Big Tech, including Facebook, colluded to interfere with the 2020 Presidential election first by falsely and maliciously labeling the laptop ‘Russian disinformation’ and then by censoring and/or discrediting all news about its contents,” the lawsuit states.
“Now, barely a month before the 2022 midterm election, FBI officials continue to suppress information of great interest to American voters and stonewall AFL’s request for records relating to the FBI’s collusive scheme with Facebook to censor news and information about the contents of Hunter Biden’s laptop,” it added.
Amid the controversy, AFL partner Reed Rubinstein released a statement, claiming that “the evidence is that during the 2020 presidential election campaign, the FBI conspired and combined with large corporations, including Facebook, to censor and suppress the damning evidence of Biden family corruption and influence-peddling found on Hunter Biden’s laptop.”
Rubinstein also alleged that the concealing of controversial information regarding Hunter’s laptop was done to help Biden and the Democrats win the election in 2020.
“This was done to help Joe Biden and the Democrats win the 2020 election. Now, arrogantly disregarding the law, the FBI is stonewalling AFL’s efforts to expose the FBI’s emails detailing the tradecraft behind this collusive attack on our elections and identifying the persons inside and outside of government who were responsible for it,” he lamented.
The lawsuit came after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that the social media platform has limited the circulation of the Hunter Biden laptop story on the ground that it was part of a Russian disinformation campaign which the FBI previously warned about.
“The background here is that the FBI came to us — some folks on our team — and was like, ‘Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert. We thought there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We have it on notice that basically there’s about to be some kind of dump that’s similar to that,'” Zuckerberg claimed.
